Description
This beginner-level course introduces you to the role of a community interpreter.
You will learn the basics of interpreting, including how to help people who do not speak English access public services like healthcare, education, and housing. You will also learn
what community interpreting is and why it is important, the interpreter's role and responsibilities, key skills like listening, accuracy, and confidentiality, common situations where interpreters are needed and how to work fairly and respectfully with different cultures.
The course is ideal for bilingual individuals looking to take the first step toward a career in community interpreting or volunteering in multilingual environments and another langauge and for people who want to support their local communities.
After completing this course, you can move onto the Level 2 qualification to further develop your skills and work towards being a fully-qualified community interpreter.

A good command of Engish (E3+) which will be assessed at our initial assessment interview
