Description
This course provides a solid foundation for individuals seeking to enhance their understanding of financial management.It will equip you with the necessary skills to confidently handle essential accounting responsibilities. By the end of the course, you will be able to perform routine accounting tasks related to sales and purchases, as well as mastering the art of preparing a meticulous cashbook. In addition, you will learn how to generate accurate VAT return figures and create vital accounting reports, including the trial balance, profit and loss account, and balance sheet. .
Overview
The course is designed for people who want to learn a simple but effective method of
bookkeeping using excel spreadsheets or google sheets. Learners will be able to
carry out routine accounting tasks. These will include processing accounting
information in respect of sales and purchases, understanding how to prepare a cash
book and generate accounting reports such as a trial balance, profit and loss
account and balance sheet.
Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes - By the end of this course, learners should be able to:
- Prepare Day Books
- Process information in respect of sales and purchases, i.e. invoices, credit
notes, receipts and payments.
- Process transactions at different rates of tax.
- Prepare a cash book and reconcile bank accounts
- Generate VAT return figures
- Process payroll, stock, depreciation, prepayments and accrual journals
- Prepare a trial balance, profit and loss account and balance sheet
Suitability and entry requirements
Learners should have a basic understanding of Excel spreadsheets and/or Google
sheets, familiar with a computer keyboard, basic numeracy skills and intermediatelevel English are also recommended. Learners should also be able to follow spoken
and written instructions, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

How you will learn on the course
How will I be taught? This is an online course of 8 modules. Each module has a
number of short videos with step by step instructions as to how to complete each
task. There are short quizzes to test learning in each module, homework and a test
at the end.

Resources you will need: Calculator, pen, paper, pdf reader and access to Excel spreadsheet or Google Sheets.
