The Functional Skills qualification in English at Entry Level 3 is ideal for people wishing to develop practical, transferable skills in English in order to work confidently, effectively and independently in life. It will help you to improve your English skills and progress onto further qualifications.  

Aim
The Functional Skills qualification in English at Entry Level 3 is ideal for learners wishing to develop practical, transferable skills in English in order to work confidently, effectively and independently in life. It is suitable for a wide range of individuals wishing to improve their English skills and progress onto further qualifications. Aims of the course: The purpose of this course is to enable learners to read, write, speak, listen and communicate in English, and to apply this knowledge and these skills in familiar situations.

There are no pre-entry or minimum age requirements for this qualification

What you will learn on this course
listen, understand and respond to verbal communication in a range of familiar contexts. acquire an understanding of everyday words and their uses and effects, and apply this understanding in different contexts. read with accuracy straightforward texts encountered in everyday life and work and develop confidence to read more widely. write straightforward texts and documents with clarity and effectiveness, and demonstrate a sound grasp of spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Accreditation, qualifications and assessment methods
This qualification is assessed via 3 controlled assessments which cover: Reading Writing Speaking, Listening and Communicating

2-3 hours a week for private study and assignments

Resources, materials and any additional costs
All teaching and learning materials will be provided. You will need to buy writing paper, pens, a folder for completed work and handouts, and a dictionary.
